A few words from a member of the team -

'I really enjoy working for Solent CAMHS as we have a brilliant, supportive and friendly team and I think if you have a good team around you this can make all the difference. I enjoy working in an environment where I am constantly learning and developing my knowledge and skillset and value being able to go to others in the team who have a broad range of experience and skill so that we can learn from one another.'

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to work across our friendly and forward-thinking Solent CAMHS Teams.

This post requires a qualification in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

In CAMHS, there is often a high level of complexity in the children and young people we see. The role will involve offering assessments and specialist interventions to children and young people who have a range of presenting mental health needs. We are looking for an experienced child psychotherapist who also has an interest in building a therapy team and contributing to the leadership of the CAMH Services.

This post has been developed to strengthen our therapeutic offer within CAMHS. There is a clear demand for expertise in attachment and trauma within the services and we are looking to prioritise this work. Other developments in the service include developing anxiety and low mood pathways, setting up and running a successful DBT programme, and developing a pathway of dedicated, highly skilled clinicians to work with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders. We have a fully integrated eating disorder service for children and young people and current demand on the service has enabled clinicians from wider CAMHS to gain experience and develop specialist skills in this area. The post holder will be responsible for supervising our psychotherapy colleagues across both Portsmouth and Southampton. There will be opportunities to build the team through offering trainee placements as part of our commitment to retention of staff.

As a band 8B there is an expectation the candidate will supervise other members of the wider psychotherapy teams across Southampton and Portsmouth as well as team members from other therapies and disciplines.

We are looking for confident CAMHS professionals with a demonstrable track record of providing good quality evidence-based interventions, improving service quality with an interest in service development. This position calls for a professional with significant experience of working with children, young people and their families experiencing mental health difficulties. We are looking for a senior child psychotherapist who will share our passion to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families. We are interested in supporting candidates developing their areas of particular interest where there is a strong service need. Experience of service development and leadership, alongside the right attitude, skills and knowledge are fundamental to this role.

We offer an exciting and dynamic environment where your ideas and career development will be valued. The post holder will be supported directly by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. We would like to recruit to a full-time position but will consider 30 hours per week.

BASE:Horizon Building, CAMHS, Southampton and Portsmouth CAMHS

RELOCATION:Relocation expenses can be offered to successful candidates who meet the criteria as set out in the trust policy.

If you wish to have an informal conversation regarding the post please contact Dr Laura Roughan, Consultant Clinical Psychologist on 02381 030061 or email Laura.roughan@solent.nhs.uk

Dame Rachel De’Souza, Childrens Commissioner of England, stated “Children are the least likely to be affected by the virus but they have taken the worst hit” and at Solent NHS Trust we are investing in our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services at a time when our children and young people need us most. We are committed to being responsive and forward thinking in our response to COVID and as part of our Trust wide reset plan we are recruiting to a number of new posts to expand our CAMH Services as they work to meet increasing impact of COVID on children’s and young people mental health. This is an exciting time to join our dedicated and supportive team as we recruit to a number of positions across nursing, psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy and more. We look forward to hearing from you.
