An exciting opportunity of Ward Manager has arisen within Ty Lafant Learning Disabilities Assessment and Treatment ward at Llanfrechfa Grange. We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking nurse to lead this team. You will be expected to oversee and facilitate safe, effective and timely discharges of patients and provide support and advice to patients, their families and their carer's. There will be an expectation the Ward Manager will be instrumental in leading regular MDT meetings.

You will be expected to work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team and be actively involved in providing high standards of quality care. You will also be expected to demonstrate a high level of nursing assessment and clinical care skills by supporting a team of Band 6 and Band 5 registered nurses and Band 4 ,3 and 2 HCSW's in their professional development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure the comprehensive provision of a cost effective, accessible, appropriate and responsive Learning Disability service to service users with complex needs. They will support the Senior Nurse, Local Authority and Health Board personnel with the implementation of the National Service Frameworks, Mental Health Strategy especially the Recovery and Rehabilitation strategy and develop policies and protocols to support the associated principals and values.

The post holder will carry the continuing responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care needs and quality assurance. The In Patient Manager will develop and coordinate a multi-professional approach providing evidence based care to all those who use the service. They will ensure that this collaboration harnesses a integrative profession approach so that medical, psychological, social and activities for daily life skills are developed or maintained as far as possible within an holistic care model to individuals who require the service's support.

The post holder will ensure service delivery is of a high professional standard that is in line with Health Board policies and procedures.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Qualified RNLD/RNMH
  • Computer skills for report writing and updating service records



  • Relevant experience at Band 6 or equivalent
