An exciting opportunity has arisen for a flexible, motivated, enthusiastic, empathetic and committed Nurse/AHP/ODP to work within the existing Nurse Lead, Vascular Access Team.

We would like to attract individuals with an interest in Vascular Access and are offering an opportunity to confident Senior Bands 5 & 6 and Band 7 Nurse's, AHP's and ODP colleagues who would like to gain knowledge and practical skills within this speciality.

We would also welcome applications from staff with Excellent up to date VA placement skills, evidence of training in extended vascular access device placement under imaging guidance to apply.

Once competent there will be a teaching element to the role and a requirement to take part in Trust wide clinical audit. This role requires you to be an excellent communicator and ability to make autonomous decisions relating to individual needs of our patients.

Main duties of the job

Candidates that do not currently have Vascular Access skills will be supported to progress through a development package enabling them the potential to become autonomous Vascular Access Practitioners.

The Vascular Access Practitioner will be responsible for the placement of MID/PICC lines, advancing to Hickman Line/Short Term Acute Central Line/ Totally Implanted Ports. Training will be given to individuals with a desire to train to become an autonomous practitioner placing a variety of vascular access devices under image guidance. You will be required to be an empathetic and inclusive practitioner, Supporting patients and colleagues alike.

Once competent there will be a teaching element to the role, teaching nursing students & medical students and qualified medics looking to develop skills in Vascular Access as part of their speciality training. There will a requirement to take part in Trust wide clinical audit. This role requires you to be an excellent communicator and ability to make autonomous decisions relating to individual needs of our patients.

As we work within a Radiographic Environment, there is a requirement to wear lead aprons as PPE and ability to stand for long periods of time.

Provide excellent service delivery demonstrating a wide knowledge of the insertion, care and maintenance of all vascular access devices and maintaining excellent infection prevention and control measures throughout your practice
