A few words from a member of the team -

'I find the job very rewarding and interesting. I work in a supportive team and have been here for many years. I have found that the job has changed in many ways over the years, and I have also been given opportunities for career progression.'

Are you passionate about working with children young people and their families?

Looking to pursue a career in Child and Adolescent Mental Health?

Southampton CAMHS have an exciting opportunity opening for the role of a qualified CBT therapist or a specialist clinical psychologist to work specifically within the Eating Disorders service.

In CAMHS, there is often a high level of complexity in the children and young people we see. The role will involve offering assessments and specialist, evidence-based interventions to children, young people and their families within the Eating disorders service.

The successful applicant will be working within an established eating disorder team alongside the lead Consultant Psychiatrist, Senior Clinical Psychologist, Mental health nurses, therapists, support workers and Assistant Psychologist to deliver bespoke care packages according to need. This will include a combination of clinic work and home visiting as well and building strong relationships with local tier 4 providers to ensure consistency of care for those young people requiring periods of hospital admission.

You will work alongside young people and their families to deliver outstanding care and helping to promote independence and dignity and positively enhancing the lives of individuals in our care.

You will be based at Southampton CAMHS in the City and be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality interventions to children, young people and their families presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. Whilst you will have dedicated time for delivering eating disorder specific interventions you will also carry out some generic CAMHS work such as supporting our Duty system and self-harm rota.

We are looking for a confident professional with a demonstrable track record of providing good quality evidence-based interventions with a strong interest and experience in working with people with eating disorders. We are looking for someone who can bring the right attitude, skills and knowledge and who will share our passion to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families.

We offer an exciting and dynamic environment where your ideas and career development will be valued. In the CAMHS service there is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who provides professional leadership to the psychologists within the service and CBT therapists. We also have a number senior CBT therapists within the team who are qualified CBT supervisors. We have strong links with both the University of Southampton Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme and the wider psychology research team. The CYP- IAPT model is embedded within the CAMHS team and have strong links with the University of Reading and University of Exeter IAPT programmes with regular opportunities for staff training and for the service to offer training places.
