We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to join the team at Health in Mind as a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner (PCMHP). This is a substantive 37.5 hour post with an expectation of some out of office hours working (see below). Health in Mind is an Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies Service (IAPT) primary care mental health service that serves the people of East Sussex, excluding Brighton and Hove. The PCMHP's within Health in Mind provide a critical function in triaging referrals into the service, providing timely and consistent assessments, brief non-IAPT interventions and onward referral as required. Liaison with key stakeholders and third sector organisations also forms part of this role. Although you will be working primarily in the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford area the ability to travel across sites in the East Sussex area (excluding Brighton and Hove) to meet the overall demands of the service is required.

This post offers a Golden Hello, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document).

Main duties of the job

It is essential that you are a registered mental health professional or equivalent (see job description). Main duties include assessments, brief non IAPT interventions, triage, onward referrals to secondary or CRHT services (if this is needed) and signposting advice. The successful applicant should have excellent clinical skills in assessment, risk assessment and as well as strong communication skills. You will be working closely with other professional groups within the team, in particular your PCMHP colleagues and the IAPT staff team. Providing advice and support to your colleagues is therefore integral part of this role. The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, such as GPs, secondary mental health services and non-statutory organisations is vital. The post holder will also contribute to broader Service and Trust developments in relation to our triage team, local triage hubs and PCMHP role developments in Sussex.
