The Role
  • Are you someone looking for a career in one of the UK’s most respected mental health and learning disability trusts?
  • Would you like to do a job that makes a difference every day?

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for you to manage our established and developing Liaison Psychiatry team in North Devon!

If North Devon seems too much of a distance, please ask about our DPT relocation packages, making the move not only a dream but reality.

Liaison Psychiatry is the branch of psychiatry that specialises in the interface between medicine and psychiatry. Liaison Psychiatry Services nationwide are currently experiencing significant investment and we are in the privileged position in Devon of being able to further enhance and develop our already well-established Liaison Psychiatry services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are looking for a Band 7 Team Manager who can bring the skills, experience and enthusiasm required to effectively lead and manage others in order to meet the needs of people referred to the Liaison Psychiatry service.

We are seeking a visionary and motivated individual to join us at this exciting time, promoting dynamic and innovative ways of working.

You will have a key role in contributing to the leadership of the service and you will provide line management supervision as well as overseeing all operational aspects of the service. The role will have a clinical component alongside operational management.

You will need experience in clinical practice, supervision and operational line management, including HR processes.

Working with other agencies, as part of the wider MDT is an important aspect of this role.

The Liaison Psychiatry Service accepts referrals from in-patient wards and the Emergency Department (ED), working to ensure a timely response to people who attend the ED as well as facilitating discharge from the medical wards.

In relation to the service’s inpatient work, the team assess and review patients who are on caseload for a period of monitoring whilst they remain in-patients in the district general hospital (DGH). This will include dementia, delirium, depression, eating disorders, psychosis, medication management & support for patients and wards in challenging situations, on-going risk assessment and monitoring.

The service is currently in the early stages of developing a frailty pathway and an integrated psychological medicines service pathway so this is an exciting time to join this developing service.

The team currently provide a Core 15, weekday service and a 10:00-18:00 service on weekends and bank holidays to patients, clinicians and carers. Part of the expansion aim for this year is to make the service Core 15 covering the entire week.

Devon Partnership NHS Trust is growing as we establish ourselves us as one of the leading providers of mental health services in the country.

Working as part of Devon Partnership NHS Trust, you will make a difference to people’s lives from the moment you start.
