An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Havering Integrated Care Directorate. We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Dietitian to undertake a newly created role ofNutrition and Dietetic Paediatric Lead.

The post shares the responsibility for the clinical and operational co-ordination and management of the Barking & Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge Nutrition & Dietetics teams.

Main duties of the job

You will have a minimum of three years' experience providing staff and service development within a team setting, be forward thinking, providing both operational leadership and support the strategic agenda.

You will have experience of working collaboratively with peers and partners. You will have a passion to deliver safe and quality services and commitment and energy to see things through coupled with your ability to apply innovation to practice.

The post holder will be expected to support their team, department, and organisation to achieve the Trust's Values in their day-to-day work.

The post holder will provide effective clinical and operational responsibility for the designated services within NELFT ensuring effective clinical delivery and performance management against key performance indicators.

The post holder will work with the Integrated Community Services Manager to deliver the vision of the Trust to provide a quality led service, supporting patients to live the lives they want.

About us

Probationary PeriodThis post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer LondonThis post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of �3,899 and a maximum payment of �4,968 per annum pro rata).

To undertake a Clinical Lead role in delivering and evaluating the Nutrition and Dietetics Service across NELFT (Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge (BHR)).

To undertake operational management, and take a major role in developing, delivering and evaluating the Nutrition and Dietetics Service by assisting with the production of reports, making recommendations for change and ensuring all staff are well informed about both Nutrition and Dietetics and Trust issues.

To take a major role in your clinical area of expertise, in the advanced assessment and diagnosis of patients based on clinical findings,

To undertake supervision and teaching and the appraisal of less experienced members of the team.

Person Specification



  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • BSc (Hons) Dietitian or equivalent
  • Evidence of Postgraduate education and training



  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates ability in team leadership responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team



  • Experience of leading/ developing a Team/Services
  • Experience of managing and communicating across internal and external organisational boundaries



  • Experience or knowledge of commissioning
