We are seeking to appoint an Associate Chief Operations Officer to support service development and performance, with a proven track record in delivering high performing services for patients. Your leadership will make a big contribution to the development and delivery of paediatric services organised around the needs of the children and young people.

Main duties of the job

The key responsibilities of the role are:
  • Service development: you will use system management skills and project management expertise to support service teams to produce service development plans and clinical strategies. You will design and embed monitoring and assurance systems to track progress and impact.

You will lead on the delivery of a number of cross-cutting or large-scale service developments and projects.
  • Planning: you will be the operational lead for co-ordinating Alder Hey's annual operational plan. You will liaise with professional groups, including HR and finance, and the divisional leadership teams to produce the plan. Creating systems to monitor ongoing performance and delivery against the plan will be required.
  • Performance: responsible for developing and maintaining a performance system that informs Executives and Divisions as to whether we are assured or not that our services are compliant with national performance standards and objectives for the year.

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 330,000 children and young people each year. In addition to the hospital site located in the West Derby area of Liverpool, Alder Hey has a presence in community outreach sites and, in collaboration with other providers, our clinicians help deliver care closer to patients' homes by holding local clinics at locations from Cumbria to Shropshire, Wales and the Isle of Man. The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our new Sunflower House building at the Alder Hey Hospital site.
