We are looking for a dynamic, experienced OT with a positive attitude to work as a Band 7 in the Outpatient Therapy team at South Bristol Community Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the outpatient setting - contributing to clinics, seeing patients 1:1 and facilitating groups.
This is a maternity leave cover position up until January 2025.
The current post holder works 3 days a week, and we are open to applications from staff members requesting flexible working arrangements up to and including 22.5hours. We also encourage applications from those staff members who wish to consider this post as a secondment please discuss with your line manager before applying.
Main duties of the job
The Band 7 Occupational Therapist will provide joint clinical and managerial leadership for the Falls & Frailty and Movement disorders Outpatient Services at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW).
They will be a highly experienced clinician, with specialist clinical skills in Falls, Frailty & Movement Disorders.
They will manage a significant caseload of often complex patients, utilising expert clinical reasoning strategies, treatment planning, and implementation of clinical standards.
Areas of work include Consultant-led outpatient clinics (Rapid Access for Older People (RACOP), Movement Disorders) and therapy-led falls clinic and outpatients service.

Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Experience of treating a variety of conditions relating to the older person as a band 6 therapist e.g. older persons rehabilitation, falls, frailty, dementia, long-term neurological conditions
- Considerable experience of clinical supervision, mentoring and teaching, including to OT students
- Experience of people management
- Participation in service development
- Compassionate leadership skills
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt under pressure
- Ability to build/maintain productive professional relationships quickly
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- Health and Care Professions Council registered
