A few words from a member of the team -

‘I absolutely love coming to work to see how I can best help the children and young people in my care and have worked for the last 22 years in the same CAMHs team, I still have the same strong drive to be the very best I can be, and I hope that I can still be in the team in another 10 years...!’

Southampton Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service are excited to invite applications for a part-time Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our team and strengthen the delivery of services to children and families!

The CAMHs team is part of a supportive and innovative child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) in Southampton. The aim of this service is to support a child/young person in continuing with their mental health recovery at home with their families with the right support and most importantly the least restrictive.

The post holder will be part of the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team delivering specialist mental health support for children and young people and their parents/carers.

All young people who are accepted to the service will follow a structured programme, in line with relevant NICE guidelines (for example anorexia nervosa, depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation). Interventions are delivered by a multi-disciplinary clinical team comprising of: Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Nurses, Social Worker, Dietitian, Family Therapist, Assistant Psychologists and Managerial Support.

The successful candidate will have a keen interest in working collaboratively with children and families and with partner agencies to promote positive outcomes for children and families in Southampton. You will have a role in offering core interventions as well as specialist psychotherapy interventions to children and adolescents and their families, as well as consultation to the team and professional networks.

You will be working alongside an established team at an important time in our development. It really is an exciting time to be joining us as we push forward with implementing new ways of working in order to best meet the needs of the population we work with.

BASE:Horizon Building, CAMHS, Southampton

RELOCATION:Relocation expenses can be offered to successful candidates who meet the criteria as set out in the trust policy.

If you wish to have an informal conversation regarding the post please contact Satty Basra on 02381 030061.

Dame Rachel De’Souza, Childrens Commissioner of England, stated “Children are the least likely to be affected by the virus but they have taken the worst hit” and at Solent NHS Trust we are investing in our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services at a time when our children and young people need us most. We are committed to being responsive and forward thinking in our response to COVID and as part of our Trust wide reset plan we are recruiting to a number of new posts to expand our CAMH Services as they work to meet increasing impact of COVID on children’s and young people mental health. This is an exciting time to join our dedicated and supportive team as we recruit to a number of positions across nursing, psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy and more. We look forward to hearing from you.

We will contact you via NHS Jobs if you are shortlisted for interview. Candidates selected for interview will be contacted before the given interview date; therefore, you should check your emails regularly including junk mail folders.
