Our services

We provide a comprehensive range of services including in the community and hospital settings: talking therapies, mental health servicesfor adults, children and adolescents, drug and alcohol, learning disability,eating disorder, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorderclinic, forensic and other mental health.

The Children And Young People's Service (CYPS)Eating DisorderTeam delivers a highly specialist intervention based on NICE Guidelines and current evidenced based practise to children and young people presenting with and eating disorder including primary mental health input. Additional supports come from CAMHS, HOPE Service, the Crisis Intervention Service and CYPS Crisis Line, which offers support to children, young people, families and carers over a 24/7 period. Occasionally Early intervention in Psychosis team which provides intervention for psychosis (covering people between the ages of 14 – 35 with emerging or apparent psychosis); and by the HOPE team for more intensive outpatient intervention (see below for more details). The SPA provides a single point of access for all eating disorders referrals. CYPS Crisis Line is a different service from the Crisis Intervention Service and offers support to children, young people, families, and carers over a 24/7 period.

About the role

The Eating Disorders Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist vacancy(10 PA's = 40 hours/week)is within the highly regarded CARE Accredited and nationally achieving, Surrey-wide Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Service. This is a highly attractive post and you will be joining our thriving, happy and well established multi-disciplinary team.

You will be required to be aware of the Access and Waiting Times Agenda for community Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services across England and the intended New Care Models Agenda for Surrey, Sussex and Kent that will focus on the shortening of specialist tier 4 admissions.

You will be joining a robust clinical team including Nurses, Therapists, excellent Administrative support, Dietitians and Consultant Psychiatrists. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to enhance the established acute focus of the service and someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of clinicians who are very proud of the work that they do. Part of the role will include liaison with the 5 acute hospitals who may at times be caring for medically unstable young people.

There has been recent involvement in trials such as the Triangle Study and Shared Study and there would be opportunities (outside of contracted hours) to act as Principle Investigator on trials, supported by the R&D department.

About you

You will have:
  • A recognised basic Medical Degree and MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Full Medical Registration (GMC) with a Licence to Practice
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or CCT in appropriate specialty (or within 6 months at time of Interview/Assessment) or equivalent
  • Approved Clinician Status and approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
  • Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills
