Specialist Paediatric Dietitian-Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of the Dietetics service at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust for a Specialist Paediatric Dietitian. The CHS Dietetics provides service for acute, community, paediatrics and LD services. We friendly, forward thinking team of 14 dietitians and 2 dietetic assistants and admin support, committed to providing high quality effective care. This post offers the ideal opportunity to work within a small team of paediatric dietitians. The post holder will be based with the dietetic service and will have strong connections and working relationships with the paediatric community services.

As a band 7 dietitian you would undertake audits, service improvement & review/develop nutrition and dietetic policies as required. As a specialist paediatric dietitian, you will be encouraged to play an active role in the Trust's Nutrition Task Force.

Main duties of the job

This post will provide specialist nutrition and dietetic service for children , with specialist medical nutritional needs. The post is a great opportunity to work with the acute and community paediatric services. This includes link with the hospital neonatal team, allergy service, community nurses, school nurses and learning disabilities dietitian. The post holder would be responsible for MDT clinics for children on home enteral feeding, mostly in outpatient settings. This would be a mix between schools and Croydon University Hospital. Although not very frequent, there might occasional need for home visit. The post holder will be assigned to deliver paediatric general outpatient clinics, and will have opportunities to train in and cover allergy service and share inpatient caseload as required.

Person Specification

Education, qualifications and/or training

Essential

  • BSC in Dietetics or equivalent
  • Current registration as Dietitian with HCPC
  • Post graduate training in paediatric Dietetics


Desirable

  • Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Obesity Specialist Group
  • Study in behavioural therapy


Experience

Essential

  • Proven clinical experience following graduation. This must include at least one years' experience in managing children and young adults on home enteral feeding
  • Experience of training student dietitians
  • Working as a part of a team
  • Previous experience of research and audit
  • Experience of developing dietetic service
  • Extensive experience of outpatient clinics


Desirable

  • Post registration experience of managing children on home enteral feeding, allergy and faltering growth.
