An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the team in the Ophthalmology Clinic/Eye Day Surgery unit at Southlands Hospital.

The team at Southlands Ophthalmology Clinic and DSU comprises of Registered Nurses, Nursing Associates, Ophthalmic Technicians, HCA's and ODP's.

Career progression is encouraged for any RN to work towards becoming an Ophthalmic Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Clinical Practitioner using the nationally recognised Ophthalmic Practitioner Training (OPT), alongside our Nursing lead for OPT, with Clinician and AHP input.

Training opportunities covering many aspects of Ophthalmology Nursing are provided by both the nursing team and our Consultant Body to improve your knowledge, skills and experience and ultimately the care for our patient group.

We are a fast paced and exciting department, being one of the busiest specialties in the organisation. Things change very quickly and with multiple subspecialties within the scope of the Ophthalmology, most people find a niche that they would like to explore in more detail.

• To report on the condition of patients to the Clinical Leader/Medical staff, assisting them in ascertaining treatments and ensure these are carried out.
• Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he/she works.
