We have a great opportunity, in order to meet the needs of our busy and expanding services, to recruit a number of Specialist Cardiac Physiologists to enhance our dedicated and friendly team.
If you have experience in autonomously performing and reporting on specialised cardiac investigations such as pacemaker follow-up clinics or transthoracic echo and are looking to develop your skills encouraged and led by our very experienced and supportive Physiology Managers including a dedicated Training Officer, then we would like to hear from you.
Our team works together to ensure that a consistently high quality service is delivered to our patients from our base in the modern purpose built Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC), where we provide services across the whole Basildon hospital site incorporating both tertiary and secondary care.
This unique service model provides new joiners with an ideal opportunity to either expand skills into new areas of interest or to develop existing skills to highly specialist levels.
We are open to applications from existing Specialist Physiologists, Band 5 practitioners looking for development or 3rd year STPs expecting to complete training this summer.

Main duties of the job
Demonstrate specialist skills, underpinned by up-to-date relevant knowledge and practical experience, in areas of device management or echo as well as participating in a broad range of routine primary investigations.
Participate in theemergencyout of hourson-call roster on attainment of appropriate competency.
You will develop highly specialist clinical knowledge and skills in advanced techniques, participate in training and supervision of the Cardiac Physiology team and carry out administrative duties to support management of the department.
You will ensure professional regulatory and accreditation requirements are maintained, implement clinical policies and protocols, proposing changes to working practices or procedures as necessary and support the maintenance of minimum standards within clinical areas, ensuring that any issues identified are reported to a more senior member of the Physiology team.
You should be beware of responsibilities regarding equipment safety, carrying out routine checks and reporting faults to senior team members, maintain own up to date knowledge of the specialty and identify own training and development needs, attending relevant training courses as identified and agreed with senior staff during appraisal.

- BSc in Cardiac Physiology or equivalent qualification (2)
