Windermere and Ambleside District Nurses have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse working in the wonderful Lake District. You will demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for holistic patient centred delivery of care within the community, with a focus on personal and professional development.

You will work as part of a dynamic and supportive team who give equal importance to staff health and wellbeing, in addition to providing high standard care to our community. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills and knowledge relating to the increasing complexity of care delivered within the community.

Main duties of the job

This exciting opportunity is for a dedicated and motivated Community Staff Nurse to work across Windermere and Ambleside and Grange Community Nursing Teams as part of the Integrated Care Community (ICC's) covering a 24 hour period including weekends and bank holidays, 7 days a week.

You may also be expected to work across a variety of DN teams in the Community Care Group to maintain service delivery.

Community Nurses work closely with all health and social care disciplinaries to prevent hospital admission, facilitate hospital discharge and promote independence through reablement and management of long term conditions. The role requires excellent communication skills as you will undertake complex nursing assessments and develop and deliver programmes of care with patients, families and carers.

You will need a full UK divers licence and access to a vehicle in order to fulfil this role.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
