UHB Paediatrics: Where a passion and career come together
UHB are seeking an experienced nurse to join their Paediatric team as a Band 7, Risk Governance Nurse, this is a 12 month post which is open to new employees or staff wishing to explore internal secondment opportunities.
You will be working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team ensuring patient safety remains at the top of the paediatric agenda. You will take a lead on the management of governance related topics, following a robust process you will Identify potential harm, support the implementation of patient safety initiatives and contribute to improving quality and safety within the service.
The role is suitable for a nurse with recent clinical experience who has a keen eye for detail and an awareness of current best practice guidelines. You must be a trustworthy candidate who respects the need for confidentiality and promotes a professional image. You must have the ability to communicate effectively, empathetically and demonstrate critical thinking skills.

Main duties of the job
Enhance the quality of patient care, showing leadership in the management of risk within Paediatrics and achieve consistency in practice, high standards of care and innovation with a strong patient safety focus.
Be responsible for promoting and facilitating effective Governance, Risk and Assurance with the Speciality, advising and contributing to solutions in relation to clinical effectiveness. They will ensure that recommendation to changes in practice in the light of research and development are implemented and embedded in practice.
The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the clinical risk review system within Children's Services Speciality including all aspects of management of the Datix reporting system act as a central point for the receipt of all adverse incidents/near miss report forms, collection of report forms for local and national requirements, leading on investigations of incidents and speciality/ divisional root cause analysis investigations as appropriate, information management, organising multidisciplinary review meetings, reporting and liaising with the Trust Corporate Governance Department and the Paediatrics Governance Leads.
Be an active participant and produce reports for the following meetings: - Clinical Governance Speciality, Paediatric Risk, Paediatric Mortality Review Group, Divisional Quality & Safety.
Have the ability to communicate complex, sensitive and sometimes contentious information to patients, families and members of staff.
