Applications are invited for self-motivated, enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join the Blood Transfusion Department in the role of Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Quality Officer.
Applicants must be HCPC registered, have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject or Fellowship of the IBMS with extensive post registration experience in a NHS
Applicants must be prepared to work and attend meetings at any site.
Main duties of the job
An advanced knowledge of the Quality Management System, ISO standards and MHRA/GMP standards are required. Along with the ability to demonstrate extensive experience of staff support, training, development and supervision is essential.
The successful candidate will work only in Blood Transfusion as a departmental Quality Officer supporting with ongoing and improving compliance.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will serve as a departmental Quality Officer, and lead on quality issues providing support, specialist knowledge and scientific/technical expertise on all quality matters to ensure the safe delivery of the clinical diagnostic service.
The post-holder will be responsible for the local delivery of the UHSussex Pathology quality management system. This will include facilitating the delivery of specialist training and systematic inspection programmes for all staff grades.
The post-holder will maintain high professional standards, professional knowledge and competency, undertaking personal continuing profession development, and assisting with the training and development of other staff. They will be responsible for day to day organisation, maintenance of work flow and any particular responsibilities associated with their designated section(s) and provide cover for the departmental site manager in their absence.
