Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse (Dorrell Ward)
The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest general hospital foundation trusts in the country and has over 4,800 staff, over 600 beds and a great track record of achievement. We provide acute medical and surgical services to Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire.
Dorrell ward is comprised of 13 in-patient beds, an ENT Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) and Eye Day Bed Unit offering up an interesting and varied workload.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking, proactive and highly motivated Senior Staff Nurse to join our team and work with the Ward Sister in leading our team within the Head and Neck service.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with excellent clinical, decision making and communication skills and someone who has the ability to translate the trust's vision into action.
Main duties of the job
You will be managing our inpatient ward, EAU and EDBU nursing teams providing high quality nursing care in the specialties of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Ophthalmology.
Delivering excellence in patient care and patient experience is our driving force and in return we offer commitment to your personal development.
Informal visits to the unit are welcome so you can come and see us and discuss your needs and see the way that care is delivered.

The post holder works as a skilled practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of patient -focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of the client group in their clinical area.
The post holder ensures the smooth running of the ward / department in the absence of the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse, and provides clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
