An exciting opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses to join a new General Medicine ward at Barnsley District General Hospital, Ward 32 General Medicine.

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic flexible individuals who have excellent interpersonal skills who will work effectively within our team.

We are dedicated to delivering a high standard of evidence-based care, ensuring a supportive, friendly and safe environment for both patients and staff.

The role also involves managing the flow of a daily caseload of patients through the ward area, and liaising with a wide range of other members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate speedy, appropriate and safe return to the community.

You must be able to promote clinical excellence through your own practice and youmust also be aware of the Trusts values and behaviors by showing respect, courtesy and professionalism at all times.

We will expect you to accommodate a flexible shift pattern, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage time, prioritise workload along with the ability to work under pressure.

A period of induction and preceptorship is provided.

Informal visits are welcomed and encouraged to come and look at what we do and meet some of the team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision.

The post holder will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

The post holder will promote clinical excellence through his/her own practice, participating in evidence based practice.

The post holder is expected to demonstrate to, and supervise, support and develop both qualified and unqualified staff including students.

Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.

Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.

Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.
