An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Urgent Care Practitioner to join the 136 Team, based at Pendleview. The post is fixed term for 10 months to cover maternity leave.

The successful candidate will be working as a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner on the S136 suite and supporting the 136's in A& E.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to support the Mental Health Liaison Team at Blackburn Royal Hospital. The successful candidate will be flexible and willing to support the unit when required.

They will be enthusiastic about helping to develop the existing service. They will be able to utilise their understanding of the complexities of mental health law in relation to detentions under S136 as well as providing clinical leadership within the 136 suite and the other wards. They will also have skills in partnership working across external partner organisations.

The 136 suite are designed to meet the holistic needs of service users/patients and carers, in a working environment conducive to staff development and wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the delivery of the suite / unit by:

Offering an assessment service to patients presenting with a range of mental health and psychological problems.

Delivering a range of nursing and psychosocial interventions to individual patients and their families, as appropriate.

Providing formal and informal education and clinical supervision to registered and unregistered staff

Representing mental health services with other agencies

Providing a communication structure between the general hospital, secondary mental health services, primary care and non-statutory services, as a means of ensuring the highest possible standards of patient care

Co-ordinate 136 MHA presentations in the A& E Department and support Section 136 Suites co-located with MHDUs.

Actively promoting teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and code of conduct.

Candidates require to have effective leadership, organisation skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital to the role.

The post holder will also be expected to complete the role of MHUNIC (Mental Health Unit Nurse in Charge) on occasion.
