Trent Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre is a centre of excellence for multiprofessional learning and education and is a regional centre for advanced clinical simulation-based education as well as offering a range of clinical skills based teaching for local and regional NHS staff. Our educational activities include teaching programmes related to patient safety, Human Factors and team training

We are looking for an experienced educator in high fidelity simulation to join our team. Working with multiprofessional teams at NUH as well as education and clinical colleagues from across the region, you will play a key part in the development and delivery of education programmes that support patient safety as well as developing our extensive education programmes in simulation, clinical skills, team training and Human Factors.

Main duties of the job

Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will help shape and lead a range of educational audit and research projects and take a lead in quality assurance at a local level and contribute to regional and national initiatives. You will represent the Department at key local, regional and national events, presenting work and sharing best practice.

You will have a clinical background, teaching experience in both high fidelity simulation and clinical environments and be passionate about education and developing others. Able to work on your own initiative as well as support others to achieve their goals, you will be able to critically assess a range of data to inform and develop programmes.

You will have previous experience of leading and working with multiprofessional teams to achieve shared goals and will enjoy working collaboratively, able to resolve conflicts and seek solutions to issues that arise. You will line manage Band 6 Clinical Educators including undertaking appraisals as well as mentoring other team members, students and Fellows as relevant.

Essential

  • oClinical qualifications - 1st level registered nurse or equivalent medical/ allied health qualifications
  • oCurrents registration with professional body
  • oPost registration qualification and training relevant to specialty
  • oDemonstrates continued professional development
  • oTeaching qualification
  • oMasters qualification or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • oRelated post-graduate qualifications - Human Factors, Improvement Science
  • oAttendance at Training trainer courses
  • oStudying for or holds Masters in Medical/Clinical Education
  • oMentor/assessor qualification

  • oExperience of giving feedback on a one to one basis in an educational setting
  • oCan lead change and is able to demonstrate implementation of new ways of working within team
  • oPractical experience teaching small groups and multiprofessional teams
  • oPost registration experience including management/ and leadership


Desirable

  • oExperience in undertaking, and reporting/presenting audit / research work at local (Trust) level.
  • oExperience of facilitation, Large group teaching, multiprofessional teaching.
  • oExperience of acting as course convenor for a teaching module/programme
  • oParticipation in audit/research projects
