To critically analyse and manage capacity and demand in all areas to support discharge to sustain patient flow.

Main duties of the job

Take a lead in the strategic development and implementation of the Paediatric Nursing workforce with special emphasis on staffing, skill mix, and development of new ways of working.

Ensure the highest quality standards are applied.

Work autonomously supporting other colleagues to co-ordinate the clinical areas and provide highly specialised knowledge, expertise and advice, facilitating the provision of evidence based child & family centred care pathways and packages.

Work closely to support the Service Delivery Manager, multi disciplinary teams, other clinical leaders and directorate managers, other agencies to provide high quality and cost effective patient focused care.

Line manage nursing staff, managing and monitoring resources within a defined budget and contributing to the corporate agenda.

Be responsible for the implementation of National and corresponding local nursing strategy within Paediatric Services as recommended national guidelines.

The Senior Nurse Manager Paediatrics will provide hands on clinical support and deliver care to patients in a safe effective manner using evidence based practice.

Actively participate and attend the Paediatric network forums representing the Health Board as required and supporting the Service Delivery Manager for Neonates, Paediatrics and Community OPD.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

• Childrens Nurse on the NMC register. RN part 8 or 15 of the register
• Degree
• Educated to Masters level in a healthcare related subject/ or working towards or equivalent experience
• Evidence of ongoing dynamic continuing professional development within the specialty linked to demonstrable clinical competencies
• Evidence of dynamic CPD to postgraduate diploma level
• WNB 998 or equivalent
• Leadership course or equivalent
• Assessing and mentoring qualification
• EPLS/APLS/PALS Basic Advanced Life Support

• Second registerable qualification in the specialty area or equivalent
