An exciting opportunity has become available at Conquest Critical Care Unit for a Band 7 Practice Educator to support and develop staff educational needs.

You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical, leadership, teaching and communication skills.

A keen interest in education and teaching is essential to fulfil this post.

You will need to have completed the critical care pathway or equivalent and have at least two years experience in an ITU setting as a Band 6.

You will be expected to support the clinical skills facilitator at both critical care units.

The base site will be Conquest however cross site working will be required to cover the two critical care units.

Critical care currently has currently 6 level 3 beds and 5 level 2 beds, the unit is planning to increase bed capacity to 14 beds in 2024. We work closely with our sister site at Eastbourne District General Hospital which currently has 8 beds.

Main duties of the job

To delegate, co-ordinate and supervise all education on the Unit.

To provide expert tuition, support and guidance for nursing, medics and other members of the multidisciplinary team working with the critically ill patient.

To assess learning needs required by staff to enable them to fulfil their role in the Critical Care, in line with the Unit's planned service provision.

To develop, implement, organise and evaluate learning resources/competencies and other staff development programmes in order to meet the Units and individuals learning needs.

To monitor staff's compliance with all training requirements and to maintain appropriate documentation on staff progress and achievements.

You will be expected to cover for the matron in her absence
