This post is for a dietitian with an interest in surgery to join our team of surgical dietitians to work in our Digestive Diseases unit. Conditions that the surgical team manage can be complex, such as those requiring parenteral nutrition, jejunal feeding, severe acute pancreatitis, gastric outlet obstructions, bowel obstructions, short bowel and high output stomas. This post will also support urology, gynaecology and ENT patients. The surgical dietitians work closely with the MDT, including upper and lower GI surgeons, stoma nurses, enhanced recovery nurses and vascular access team. They also run outpatient clinics for patients under a surgeon. No previous experience in surgery is necessary as full training can be provided.

The surgical team consists of three Dietitians, which is imbedded into a wider team of 20 Dietitians who work across the busy district general. SASH has a strong focus on leadership training and the post holder will be encouraged to supervise junior members of the team and students. Occasionally, there may be the requirement to cover other specialities, including the opportunity to gain experience in ICU and feed into the weekly complex nutrition ward rounds.

This post is based as East Surrey hospital, which is ideally located 10 minutes' drive from the M25 and a 10 minute walk from Earlswood train station which has regular services into central London and Gatwick airport. SASH employees are also entitled to fringe weighting.
