An exciting opportunity to work as part of & lead our team as a band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse on General Surgery B (Ward 36).
We are looking for a Band 6 who is a highly motivated, experienced individual with leadership skills, who is committed to working as part of our team.
We are dedicated to delivering a high standard of evidence-based care, ensuring a supportive, friendly and safe environment for both patients and staff.
You will be expected to take a lead role in improving patient care and providing support and guidance to junior staff. In addition, you will be required to undertake all aspects of ward management including staff off duty. You will take responsibility for ensuring safe, effective & quality patient care is being delivered. Previous experience in an acute ward setting is essential and a minimum of one year at Band 5 level.
You will also be required to have effective interpersonal/communication, decision-making and team working skills. It is essential that you have in-depth knowledge of current healthcare issues, risk management and clinical governance as well as quality, audit and its application.
Main duties of the job
Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.
Responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.
Manage the ward in the absence of the lead nurse
Complete the e-roster for the ward staff and authorise NHSP shifts
Ensure safe skill mix on the ward
Complete return to work interviews
Complete Route Cause Analysis
Deal with concerns and complaints at a ward level
