An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist motivated to join the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) for the Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Given the high prevalence of musculoskeletal issues, physiotherapy is recommended as a key component of haemophilia care, with a remit to provide both acute and longer-term advice, support and input across a spectrum of age, diseases severity and physical and functional impairment. This is done through acute assessment, regular surveillance of MSK health, acute joint and soft tissue bleed management, patient advocacy, pain management and rehabilitation.

JOB PURPOSE

To supervise, initiate/participate in evidence-based projects, lead on in-service trainings for Trust colleagues and have a keen interest in being involved in research.
3. JOB DIMENSIONS
The post holder will be responsible for managing their own individual caseload which will be varied and on occasions require prioritisation to best meet the service demands.
To undertake all aspects of work as an autonomous practitioner within the specialist field
He / She will be required to support the Clinical Physiotherapy Manager in the day-to-day management of this team of physiotherapists, support staff and students.

complex and specialist caseload of patients and to organise this

1.3 To utilise advanced clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based knowledge
to assess patients with highly complex presentations using a bio-psychosocial model and then to implement physiotherapy management plans as an autonomous practitioner.
1.4 To be able to explore complex and distressing personal histories, in a sensitive and supportive manner.
1.5 To continuously assess, evaluate and modify treatment aims, objectives, and desired outcomes in collaboration with the patient, any carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
1.6 To use highly advanced communication and behaviour change skills to facilitate a long-term self-management approach with patients loving with acute and/or chronic musculoskeletal conditions and pain.

2 Education and Training
2.1 To provide spontaneous and planned specialist advice, teaching and
instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote
understanding of the aims of haemophilia physiotherapy, and to ensure a
consistent approach to patient care.
2.2 To effectively communicate complex clinical information with patients and
carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of
their condition.
2.3 To be an active member of the in-service training programme. You will be responsible for the provision of specialist teaching to peers and juniors on a range of subjects through the delivery of in-service training sessions, tutorials, individual training sessions, external courses and peer review.
2.4 To co-ordinate and deliver core training within the speciality to qualified and unqualified physiotherapy staff and students.
2.5 To train, supervise and performances manage more junior staff, technical instructors, assistants and students on a daily basis. This will include the use of formal appraisal documentation.
2.6 To provide daily support, guidance and training to more junior staff support workers and students assessing, evaluating and ensuring competence.
