An exciting opportunity has come up for a full time Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager on the Integrated Acute Assessment Unit (IAAU- B2).

The unit was opened in October 2020 and we have integrated the specialties of medicine, surgery, orthopedic and ENT into a 30 bedded unit. The unit is a fast-paced area with a quick turnaround. We aim to assess, initiate treatment and either discharge or move to a specialist ward for further management. This is a great time to join this team as we will be moving down to a new purpose built unit in the new year that will also include the Same Day Emergency Care.

Main duties of the job

Training will be given to the successful candidate to assist them in the role as Deputy Ward Manager. The training will include but is not limited to, e-Rostering management, Ulysses management, sickness and absence management, PADR completion and clinical supervision completion. The post will further develop your leadership skills and the ability to encourage the ward team to excel in their personal development.

The successful applicant will have strong leadership and communication skills. They will be able to demonstrate their abilities to inspire and manage change. Work autonomously and be forward thinking. The successful Band 5 should be an experienced nurse with at least two years of experience preferably with shift leading experience. You should be reliable, highly motivated and enthusiastic to support the Ward Manager to achieve a high standard of care whilst role modelling and supporting the team.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • oLevel 1 Registered Nurse
  • oDiploma in Nursing or evidence of recent relevant CPD at diploma level
  • oEvidence of post registration development in the relevant speciality
  • oQualified mentor (ENB 998, or equivalent) or equivalent mentorship award


Desirable

  • oDegree in Nursing or working towards a degree
  • oManagement qualification
  • oLeadership qualification


Occupational Experience

Essential

  • o2 years Post Reg experience in relevant specialty with experience at E grade


Desirable

  • oExperience of managing a team or area within a Ward/Department
