PLEASE NOTE: This post is based at West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH), Benham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG18 3AS.

An opportunity has arisen for dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Staff Nurse with an ambition to succeed, and have the willingness and ability to work with the whole team in support of the ward manager.

The West Berkshire Day Surgery Unit is committed to delivering a high quality patient-focused service.

We are a well-equipped and modern department specializing in a wide range of surgical and diagnostic procedures.

We are a JAG accredited unit and undertake bowel cancer screening as part of the National Screening Programme.

The unit is open Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00.

Main duties of the job

The post would suit a nurse who is keen to develop their professional profile someone who recognizes opportunities for improvements and is a motivator to drive forward changes within the department.

A nurse keen to develop their management skills, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is motivated to develop skills and training appropriate to the role.

The Day Surgery unit consist of a multidisciplinary team and we encourage all our staff to develop their clinical, managerial and leadership skills in a positive learning environment.

We are a very busy, expanding unit - you will need to be reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the unit.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To work as a skilled practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of the client group in their clinical area.

To ensure the smooth running of the ward / department in the absence of the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse, and provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff.
