Due to a recent promotion within the team, we are looking to appoint a full time Deputy Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner to commence in post in February 2024
You will play a key role in supporting the Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner and will require excellent leadership skills to provide clinical and professional leadership to a team of Specialist Screening Practitioners. You will be responsible for the training and development of the Specialist Screening Practitioners to ensure the provision of specialist, expert knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients and carers/relatives. You will require an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient services. The post holder will be able to prioritise their own workload, able to work independently and as part of a multiprofessional team, communicate effectively at all levels, influence change and further development of the BCSP.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership to the Specialist Screening Practitioners (SSPs) within the NHS Lancashire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) Screening Centre. Ensuring the delivery of high quality patient services for both FIT Screening & Lynch Surveillance within the resources available. The post holder will be responsible for, in liaison with the Lead SSP in the training and development of the SSPs and to ensure the provision of specialist, expert knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients and carers/relatives. The post holder will be able to prioritise their own workload, able to work independently and as part of a multi- professional team communicate effectively at all levels, influence change and further development of the BCSP.

The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme is a world first amongst screening programmes and the first to offer screening to both men and women. The Lancashire Programme commenced in April 2008 and has continued to develop and expand with Age extension and surveillance screening of patients with Lynch
The post will be based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, although frequent and extensive daily motorway travel throughout the Lancashire region will be required.

Job responsibilities
You will need to have had previous experience of leading a team and also be working as a Specialist Screening Practitioner which includes including the delivery of nurse-led clinics within the community throughout Lancashire and attending colonoscopy lists across Lancashire including at three different Trusts and colorectal cancer multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) in the participating individuals relevant Trust. You will act as the individuals advocate, supporting and empowering them and their family to make informed choices and decisions about their screening examination, care, treatment and future participation, through all stages of the screening programme. You will be involved in assessing individuals, making decisions based on the outcomes of your assessment and planning their bowel cancer-screening journey. You need to be able to use a range of IT Systems including the National Bowel Cancer Screening IT system (BCSS) and be familiar with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook & Word.
You will need to have gained certification of the Liverpool John Moores University Specialist Bowel Cancer Screening Practitioner Course.

- 1st level Registered Nurse
- 2 years experience as Specialist Screening Practitioner within Bowel Cancer Screening Programme
- Certification in LJMU Bowel Cancer Specialist Screening Practitioner
- Education to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge & experience gained in a relevant environment
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Teaching & assessing qualification e.g. ENB 998, NST 307
