The Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust requires a highly motivated, reliable, and flexible Deputy Support Services Manager to work as a key member of the Site Services Team. You will play a proactive role within the team, delivering key objectives to meet both departmental and Trust requirements.
Core hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00-16:00, however the post holder will need to be flexible to support the needs of the services across the Estate 24/7, this might include working weekends and Bank Holidays.

Job responsibilities
On behalf of the Site Services Manager ensure the delivery of Services in accordance with client requirements, service specifications, National NHS standards and best practice guides. Provide support and team leadership to operational Domestic and Deep Clean staff ensuring performance and service outcomes are maintained. In conjunction with other Supervisors & Team Leaders, provide a rapid response service including emergency cleans. Ensure sufficient numbers of staff are available to deliver quality and timely Domestic & Deep Clean Services on a daily basis. Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of appropriate work schedules, frequencies and programs to ensure services are compliant with any associated standard. Undertake surveys/audits as necessary to manage performance, ensure task actions are completed and and progressed in a timely manner. Assists in the design, development and implementation of associated work practices and procedures. Ensure all affected staff groups are consulted and included in service development. Work with the Deputy Support Service Manager to ensure all training requirements for the Deep Clean and Domestics departments are planned and delivered in a manner to ensure training requirements meet both the needs of the service and maintain training compliance figures. Organise stock control, consumables and other departmental order requirements. Respond to service delivery issues in a timely and professional manner. Assist with monthly team meetings, undertake toolbox talks and provide information on Domestic Services when required.
Communication both written and verbal, to Domestic Services staff relating to the provision of Domestic Services. This is a large staff group and many of the issues can be of a contentious or sensitive nature requiring tact and diplomacy .Assist with implementation of changes to service delivery including any changes in statutory/mandatory requirements.Ensure a partnership approach is always adopted.Attend meetings as required, in relation to the delivery of Domestic Services.Communicate with colleagues, patients and staff in a professional and supportive manner.Support the resolution of problems, interruptions or service emergencies.Ensure routine information received is disseminated to the appropriate operational staff in a suitable manner in order to understand the content and any possible implications it may have

Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the Domestic and Waste Service, reporting directly to the Site Services Manager as first line manager.
- To manage and maintain the rotas, ensuring that optimum staffing levels are maintained, annual leave requests are authorised and all absences are recorded
- Communicates with staff, patients, external agencies and general public.
- To train and motivate staff to achieve departmental objectives and maintain morale.
- Acts as a point of contact for contractors.
- Manage and monitor all sickness/absence, and other employment relations processes, ensuring accurate records are maintained and Trust policies implemented.
- In conjunction with the Site Services Manager liaises with Department heads with regard to additional cleaning requirements/ waste issues
- Ensure that employee management systems are maintained for recording daily attendance, and all absences
- Participate in staff/supervisory meetings when required.
- Maintains effective communications throughout the Site Services.
- To complete annual staff appraisals with Domestic Supervisors.
- Ensure systems of compliance and monitoring of all mandatory training is kept up to date.
- Contribute to the monthly Domestic Performance report, detailing work undertaken highlighting any innovations, new services, poor performance/practices and HR performance.
- Ensure all Estates and Facilities KPI data is populated monthly.
- Provide managerial support to the Domestic Supervisors.
