Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time to be working at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, one of the biggest NHS Trusts in the UK, delivering care to more than 1.6 million people a year through our three main hospitals: Barnet, Chase Farm and Royal Free. We have an exciting opportunity at Barnet Hospital to recruit a dynamic Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to become part of the integrated REACT team. The successful candidates are required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. The persons applying for this position should be flexible and able to work in the fast paced areasof the Emergency Department, Assessment units and Same Day Emergency Floor and Clinics. Weare seeking enthusiastic and passionate therapists, who are keen to develop their specialist clinical knowledge and management skills.

The successful candidates should be forward thinking and pro-active with excellent organisational and clinical skills within the fast paced Emergency Department setting, to facilitate admission avoidance and safe discharges. Good communication skills and the ability to make autonomous decisions under pressure are also required. The successful applicant will be required to work 37.5 hours a week within a 7 day and extended hour service.

  • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy

  • Member of Special interest group eg. SAM, AGILE
  • Evidence of attendance at relevant postgraduate courses


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a broad rotational post including A& E and acute medicine
  • Experience with complex discharge planning

  • Experience of working at band 6 level

  • Able to display transdisciplary working competencies across Occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
  • Able to make clinical decisions based on one-off rapid assessment and work under pressure.
  • Able to document information accurately.

  • Ability to participate in weekend, bank-holiday and extended hours rota.
  • Evidence of teaching and supervision skills
