This advert is for Recovery Practitioner or Nurse who specialises in SMS .
The post holder would be working as a member of a multidisciplinary Team in The Better Lives Substance Misuse Service in Islington. They will be responsible for providing individual assessment identified clinical interventions and direct care to service users with mental health problems and substance misuse needs. They will also undertake management/coordination tasks, deputising as required when appropriate, and will take on a mentoring role and supervision of junior staff within their service areas. They would be expected to work across the different sites in Islington all of which offer recovery support, Drugs and alcohol treatments and a Day programme: the expectations is that they would be working within this integral model in coproduction and inclusion of service user representatives as supporting this as the service model develops.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 , the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the team understands and operates to the requirements of the service operational policy and strategy, and that safe, evidence based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users. They will contribute to governance and audit within the team, ensuring that team members are supported and developed to their potential and that new team members are comprehensively inducted and successfully integrated into the team.
The focus of the role will be that of individual assessment, intervention and evaluation of treatment, delivered within the framework of NICE guidelines, evidence based best practice and to maximise service user's recovery and re-enablement ensuring that service users are offered all treatment offers within the Better Lives model.
They will be responsible for a defined caseload and they will formulate appropriate specific, highly specialist care and treatment plans providing highly skilled and specialist interventions and care to service users with complex mental health problems. Care co-ordination may also form part of this role.

To take operational day to day coordination responsibility as required at team level using performance management systems to ensure the effective delivery of contract activity to agreed quality standards
To work in conjunction with the Clinical lead/Line Manager and Service Manager to deliver integrated governance requirements, this may include contributing to the developing of policy and guidelines which determine practice standards.
To work with the Clinical lead/Line Manager and Service Manager to ensure that staff are compliant with safeguarding requirements to protect children and vulnerable adults. To undertake safeguarding investigations in accordance with policy.
To provide supervision and support for staff, students and support staff, ensuring best practice at all times.
To ensure that practices are in place that assess, determine and support learning and development, clinical supervision, managerial supervision and appraisal processes.
To take a lead on delivering delegated aspects of training within the team and or to the wider service line on an area of specialism as required by service need.
To be responsible for implementing policy relating to health and safety and monitor compliance e.g. fire marshals, safe environment etc

- Evidence of extensive experience of working within the substance misuse field .
- Current registration with relevant professional body. OR Other relevant qualification i.e. Solution focused therapy, cognitive stimulation therapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy etc
Knowledge / Experience

- Significant clinical experience in substance misuse service delivery
- To demonstrate a sound knowledge base in the provision of substance misuse services and preferred treatment methods
- Sound practical experience of patient / service user care and engagement within the wider context of the organisation
Skills / Abilities
Essential
- Ability to communicate both in verbal and written form at a high level in a range of complex areas
- Ability to work in an integrated service model, embracing change and contributing to positive outcomes for service users and the service.
