This senior leadership role within the locality has elements of operational leadership/management alongside clinical aspects of the role. They will lead and support the current nursing team in providing specialist assessment, intervention and advice to adults with learning disabilities and their carers being responsible for the management and day to day leadership of the nursing team and for their own nursing caseload. They will also have a responsibility for the wider MDT providing advice and leadership.
The individual must have excellent communication skills, adaptable to this client group. Experience and a good understanding of working with people with a varied and complex presentation is required. The ability to represent nursing whilst working in a dynamic multi-disciplinary team and to liaise with other health professionals and agencies is also essential. The person appointed will be involved with service development both locally and across the division. The post holder will receive line-management and supervision from the Team Manager and clinical support from the Consultant Nurse and other Band 7 Nurse colleagues in the Learning Disability Service.Main duties of the job
The role of the Locality Senior Nurse is to provide effective leadership to the wider nursing team, through management and supervision, with the purpose of improving the health and well being of adults and older people with Learning Disabilities in line with local standards and National Best Practice.
They will demonstrate and further develop an inclusive, proactive and collaborative way engaging with all relevant partners within learning disability and mainstream services to address the barriers to health and social inclusion, promoting a culture of change.
They will contribute to the development of, and ensure delivery of the wider nursing strategy and vision.About us
