We are looking to recruit innovative and dynamic Registered Midwives who have a passion for midwifery and who would like to be a part of shaping maternity services of the future. The post holder will provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for women and their families that inclusively respect the rights of the patients whilst practising within the NMC Code and supported by local policies and guidelines.

Main duties of the job

To provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for women and their families.

Be personally accountable for their practice and must adhere to the NMC standards expected of them.

Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates programmes of care in a range of environments, without supervision whilst maintaining effective communication with the multidisciplinary team and patient.

Supports, supervises and teaches less experienced staff on the ward/team relevant clinical and non-clinical procedures and practices.

Works autonomously within the department/team within Trust guidelines and sphere of professional practice with the guidance from the community midwifery manager, deputy manager or matron.

Promotes home birth and engages in the 'on call rota'.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• oRegistered Midwife eligible to be on live register
• oEvidence of post registration development in midwifery

Desirable

• oExperience of being 'in charge' of a shift
• oDegree in Midwifery or working towards a degree
• oManagement qualification
• oLeadership qualification
• oDiploma in Midwifery or evidence of recent relevant CPD at diploma level
• oQualified mentor (ENB 998, or equivalent) or equivalent mentorship award
• oQualified NVQ Assessor (A1 or equivalent) or working towards

Occupational Experience

Essential

• oSuccessfully completed Band 5 - 6 package or can demonstrate equivalent competencies and experience

Desirable

• oExperience of managing a team or area within a Ward/Department
• oTraining in handling and administration of blood
• oExperience in a maternity setting
