Care to join us in making a difference while working flexibly in our varied inpatient theatre department driving your own career path. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality patient focused care providing and maintain a safe environment for all patients attending theatres. Co-ordinating and carry out perioperative care with minimal supervision, acting as a role model and working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in achieving a high standard of patient care and having a positive impact on patients' perioperative journey.

You will work, dependant on the daily departmental needs, as an anaesthetic practitioner and are expected to be able to cross cover circulating and performing the scrub role within theatre delivering quality of care and maintenance of standards.

Supervision of students of nursing, Operating department practitioners, nurses on adaptation programme and post registration learners.

Act as a team leader within theatres and Co-ordinate the department in the absence of band 6 under supervision of band 7.

We are looking for Band 5 Theatre Practitioners with a focus in anaesthetics in beautiful South Devon to support the expansion of our service. The successful candidates will work in the inpatient theatre department.

We are a friendly, forward-thinking proactive department covering most surgical specialties. We have two practice educators to support our clinical practice and staff development, and we have an onsite educational building with a simulation suite.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) / Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)


Desirable

  • Principles of anaesthesia Care +/- equivalent


Knowledge and experience

  • Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care

  • Evidence of continuous education and professional development
