Main duties of the job

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • The post holder is responsible for the day to day running of the District Nursing team to high standards within the locality. The post holder leads the team in monitoring and improving standards of care and assists the overall development of the adult nursing service, delivering a cost effective service within the boundaries of available resources while ensuring patient safety and ensuring clinical standards are met.
  • The post holder will also provide managerial and clinical leadership to community nursing & Allied health professional staff, and act as an effective role model for multidisciplinary staff members and other team members, providing evidence-based clinical advice and support to all staff within the locality.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration
  • Post-registration qualification in district nursing or equivalent
  • Nurse prescribing appropriate to role
  • Evidence of continuing professional education and training at degree level
  • Qualification in team / service management or prepared to work towards
  • Relevant specialist courses
  • Mentor or practice based learning training
  • Community or Independent Nurse Prescribing qualification or prepared to work towards

  • RGN / RN with current registration
  • Post-registration qualification in district nursing or equivalent
  • Nurse prescribing appropriate to role
  • Evidence of continuing professional education and training at degree level
  • Qualification in team / service management or prepared to work towards

  • Evidence of recent post-registration nursing experience in community nursing
  • Experience of negotiation and liaising within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of working with people with complex needs
  • Experience of coordinating and managing a team
  • Experience of teaching others and mentoring students
  • Experience of evidence-based care
  • Experience of appraisals and clinical supervision
  • Experience of undertaking comprehensive health needs assessments and developing care plans
  • Experience of coordinating and delivering care for people with complex, long-term conditions
  • Experience of leadership, management, appraisal and clinical supervision, as well as mentoring at both pre and post-registration level


Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of principles of care for long-term conditions, relevant NSFs, and other national standards
