To work at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner in Radiographic Plain Film reporting, (Chest and Abdomen) at the Royal Stoke, County and Peripheral sites.

To carry out high quality diagnostic imaging examinations in a way which meets patients needs within the Imaging Directorate of the UHNM, within your specialist area.

Upon qualification to provide clinical expertise in your specialist area in the Radiographic Departments of the UHNM.

  • It is expected that ALL employees of the Trust will take part in the Performance and Development Review (PDR) process each year with the first PDR taking place within the first 6 months from appointment
  • To promote a high order of care skills, maintain a high professional and ethical standard of work at all times.
  • To report independently of a radiologist.
  • To be prepared to undertake any formal study or informal training required to fulfil the needs of the post. This includes self study.
  • Play a leadership role in department Audit and Quality Assurance to maintain effective Clinical Governance, e.g. analysis of a particular technique in improving diagnosis, capacity and demand measurement or process mapping.
  • To assist in organising staff rotas and deployment of staff to ensure adequate service provision can be maintained, when required.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical situations.
  • Able to organise and motivate others to deliver plans.
  • Ability to take responsibility and make decisions.
  • Team worker with developed and appropriate leadership style.
  • Evidence of a high level of analytical problem solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to negotiate influence and inspire.
  • Have a positive attitude to flexible working to meet the demands of the service.

Role Summary

To work at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust as a Trainee Advanced Practice Radiographer (Chest and Abdomen Reporting) working at the Royal Stoke, County and Peripheral sites.

To carry out high quality diagnostic imaging examinations in a way which meets patients needs within the Imaging Directorate of the UHNM, within your specialist area.

To provide clinical expertise in your specialist area in the Radiographic Departments of the UHNM.

Qualifications

BSc (Hon) Radiography or equivalent.

HCPC Registered.

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team where, in order to give the best quality of service, great importance is placed on communication and relationships:

  • BSc Radiographer/DCR(R) 2:2 or above
  • Recent clinical experience in busy NHS Imaging department
  • Extensive knowledge of Imaging protocols and IR(ME)R
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service as required within a 24/7 teaching hospital/trauma centre.
  • Ability to work as part of the 7 day service at Royal Stoke, Communities and County Hospital sites.
  • Empathetic, caring and patient focussed. Initiative, innovative, proactive. Excellent interpersonal skills Reliability, Ability to cope/difficult issues, Assertive.
  • Evidence of CPD relevant to this training post

  • CPD/Short course in relevant subject area
