This is an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced nurse to join a friendly, dynamic team to promote good bladder and bowel health in the Trafford locality.
The postholder will be a registered nurse who will manage a caseload of patients with bladder and/or bowel dysfunction, autonomously providing holistic care and treatment to patients.
You will have NMC Level One Registration, and substantial continence promotion/Urology/Gynaecology/Colorectal experience which will provide you with the knowledge and skills to undertake expert assessment of patient's bladder and bowel symptoms in a home or clinic setting. You will create individualise treatment pathways for patients, working with secondary care to provide a streamlined, integrated service to minimise referrals to acute care and to maximise the client's experience. You will work closely with our integrated community nursing services and must be competent in male, female and suprapubic catheterisation.
You will support our Bladder and Bowel Team in delivering an educational curriculum, in bladder and bowel care to all relevant healthcare professionals. You will be an excellent communicator, enthusiastic and well organised and work well under pressure. You must be able to travel around various community locations delivering care. The service operates Monday to Friday from 08.30-16.30 with no bank holiday or weekend work.
Main duties of the job
To promote continence and effective management of bladder and bowel dysfunction by providing an educational/advisory service for adult patients including, the elderly, those with learning difficulties, mental health problems and long-term degenerative conditions professionals, and others caring for patients with continence problems.
The post holder will have responsibility to manage a designated caseload providing Nurse-Led Bladder & Bowel clinics and home visits within Trafford. This includes offering specialist male and female pelvic floor assessments, investigations and skills (including Portable Bladder Scanning, Urethral and Suprapubic Catheterisation) and will work autonomously within a set of defined parameters and be guided by principals, trust policies and national recommended guidelines.
The post holder will provide specialist clinical advice, support, assessment and interpretation of complex information to ensure best practice bladder and bowel care and management is delivered within the Trafford locality.
To work within and across professional and organisational boundaries, liaising with GPs, other professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies to support the delivery of integrated, individualised and expert bladder and bowel care to a high standard to prevent admission to hospital and to facilitate safe early discharge from hospital, supporting a culture of continuous quality improvement.
