An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 registered nurse to work within our Head and Neck /Max Fax /ENT outpatient setting.

If you are a NMC registrant with essential skills within Outpatient, maxfax, ENT, head and neck, theatre with surgical and scrub skills including wound care, tracheostomy care and would like an opportunity to improve your skills across this dynamic fast paced department, then this is the position for you

You will be part of a growing team where there will be numerous opportunities to develop your existing skills and training alongside experienced MDT team members through in house specialised competencies packages

Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme. Applicants who do not have current valid UK NMC registration will not be considered for this post.

Main duties of the job

  • Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
  • A competent practitioner, teaching, assessing and supervising/providing mentorship to appropriate students or junior staff
  • Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks, extending range/skills following training in a defined rol
  • Organise own daily workload, running individual clinics independently ensuring communication is maintained with clinicians and patients, and clinical areas are stocked and cleaned at the end of the shift e.g. use and cleaning of identified medical and non-medical equipmen
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely handle biopsies in accordance with current universal infection control precaution guidelines and the health and safety policy and demonstrates adherence to COSHH recommendations when handling specimens
  • Assist in providing appropriate information to patients e.g. regarding clinic delays etc. and after receipt of bad news, following an unexpected even
  • Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities to support patient care pathways and research and maintain clear and concise notes in clinical records and case report forms

    Job responsibilities

    To work flexibly within head and neck, maxilla facial and ENT team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across both clinical areas and will be expected to work flexibly across both as allocated daily

    To work alongside clinicians to perform all complex procedures within policy, processes and guidelines

    To provide day to day management of the clinic/department, and to support the senior dental Nurse/sisters and clinic Manager.
