Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust provides care for approximately 600,000 adults, children, and young people across Gloucestershire, including community inpatient and outpatient services, public health nursing, community nursing and therapy staff.
Managed by and reporting to the Practice Development Leads for Community Nursing this role supports colleagues to work effectively, develop their skills and competency and embed into community nursing roles.
The role is suited to an experienced community nurse who has a passion for learning and facilitation of others who is willing to work alongside colleagues to develop their potential and support them in the challenging but diverse and rewarding role of being a community nurse.
Your skills will reflect the diversity of the role and your confidence in your community nursing skills will ensure you flourish in this new role. You must be competent in all community nursing clinical interventions including extended skills such as IV therapy, central lines, compression and Doppler assessment and gastrostomies. In addition your communication skills should be exemplary and you will be able to work in challenging and unpredictable situations autonomously.
We are a mobile working enabled service with electronic rostering and clinical recording well established.
Main duties of the job
Working across the county, but affiliated to an identified locality, the role involves supervision in practice, organisation of the learning environment, delivery of education and clinical facilitation and oversighting the professional practice standards within the service. In addition to the planned work you'll be engaged with, we recognise sometimes colleagues need support following unplanned events such as incidents and you will work to respond swiftly, to enable people back to practice, reduce risk and prevent recurrence. You will become a pivotal colleague in enabling a future workforce equipped with the skills to care.
About us
At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.
Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.
Our Staff Survey results showed people at our Trust feel they are engaged, part of a team and work for a compassionate and inclusive organisation.
Our overall scores were better than average in eight of nine themes and level in one - the best overall results for a community, mental health and learning disabilities Trust in the south west and first equal amongst all sector NHS providers within the region too.
