We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward thinking Occupational Therapist to join our older adult in-patient ward at our Dementia ward in Clacton on Sea.
This is an opportunity to consolidate all aspects on your Occupational Therapy training as individuals assessed here have physical, mental, cognitive, social, sensory, communication and behavioural needs.

Main duties of the job
All Band 5 Occupational Therapists will be supported in this specialist area, with a weekly CPD session on MST with peers and facilitation.You will be expected to achieve an increasing level of competency demonstrated through your professionalism, continuing professional development (CPD), conduct and level ofresponsibility.

Clinical Duties:To assess all the patients on the ward.
To utilize specialist assessments when presented with complex cases.
To make decisions on the level of input required, and communicate specialist support plans with the MDT.
To undertake treatment planning, communicating and negotiating treatment plans and clinical reasoning for intervention with patients, family and their carers.
To liaise closely with community services as required.
To communicate agreed treatment/care plans to multi-disciplinary team colleagues and partnership agencies and liaise with them at formal and informal meetings.
To work in collaboration with others to modify aspects of the environment in order to empower clients and facilitate optimal functional performance.
To liaise with Social Services and Housing Organisations concerning provision of equipment and home adaptations.
To manage a complex caseload.
To apply a variety of treatment modalities to meet the needs of clients inindividual or group format, utilising clinical reasoning processes to determine the most appropriate setting for intervention.To make clinically informed decisions in order to delegate aspects of client care to assistants, junior staff, students, carers and statutory or non-statutory bodies.
To regularly review clients progress in order to evaluate and interpreteffectiveness of treatment plans, and amend treatment or discharge clientsaccordingly.
To ensure that treatment offered is based on the best available evidence foreffectiveness in the specialist area where it is applied.
To develop and initiate interventions based on the integration of theoreticalknowledge in order to meet unique client needs.
To keep up to date clinical records in line with professional standards and local record keeping policies.
To provide written and verbal reports as required at any stage in the treatment process in line with Occupational Therapy Clinical Governance Standards.
