Due to the internal movement of staff members, there is an exciting opportunity for a committed Speech and Language Therapist to join the Specialist Learning Disability Service in Buckinghamshire. The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team and will join the well-established Speech and Language Therapy service. This is a development post and ideally suited to a Newly Qualified SLT interested in Learning Disabilities. We welcome applications from SLT graduates and those due to qualify in the near future. Newly qualified SLTs will be supported at Band 5 level and following completion of a competency framework, they will be transferred to a Band 6 role without the need for additional recruitment. We also welcome applications from more experienced therapists and applications from SLTs already working at Band 6 level.
Main duties of the job
You will support service users who have communication needs and those who have dysphagia needs as your skills develop, in line with the band 5-6 competency framework. You will receive regular clinical supervision and support from the members of the Speech and Language Therapy team, peer supervision and will be actively encouraged to participate in continuing professional development. You will have the opportunity to work creatively and support with service development.

- State registration with HCPC
- Accredited dysphagia training or willingness to undertake
Experience

- Experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities
- Experience of working as an SLT within relevent clinical field
- Relevent training completed e.g. Talking Mats, Makaton, AAC
Desirable
- Experience of delivering care to dysphagia service users
- Experience of supervising junior staff and students
