An exciting 12 month secondment opportunity is available for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our Children's Respiratory Team as the Band 7 Children's Long Term Ventilation and Complex Care Clinical Nurse Specialist.
The post holder will based at the Royal Stoke Hospital site and will work closely with the respiratory multidisciplinary team, children's intensive care and high dependency units and community providers.
The post holder will be the bridge between primary, secondary and tertiary care services, responsible for assessing the needs of the child and young person and supporting families in gaining packages of care and providing and delivering their treatment needs. You need to be enthusiastic, dynamic, proactive, innovative, and highly motivated. You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to work with the multidisciplinary teams in secondary, tertiary and primary care services.
All applicants will be expected to meet the essential criteria and possess the relevant post registration experience as outlined in the person specification.
Main duties of the job
This post provides a highly developed and effective service for children with non-invasive ventilation and complex care needs.
The post holder will have good communication, analytical and planning skills. They will work effectively and efficiently with children, parent/carers and multidisciplinary teams working in primary and secondary care settings.
The post holder will ensure a high quality service is maintained by monitoring standards and benchmarking local delivery against national standards.
The post holder will develop and deliver innovative and evidence based practice through professional leadership supporting the clinical team to develop the specialist area of non invasive ventilation and complex care.
The post holder will develop and deliver nurse led clinics.
The post holder will contribute to the management of a quality and cost effective service. The post holder will liaise with the clinical and professional leads and advise staff on professional issues.
The post holder will maintain a clinical input and keep up-to-date with professional issues and ensure that local and national procedures and guidelines are followed at all times within the long term non invasive ventilation and complex care arena.
The post holder will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both professionally and personabaly to achieve their maxiamum potential. Creating a positive and supportive work environment for staff.

- Advanced Paediatric Life Support / Paediatric Life Support Qualification
