This is an opportunity to join our established Adult Physiotherapy inpatients team at Darlington Memorial Hospital. We are looking for an applicant with knowledge and skills in acute inpatients, including cardiorespiratory management and rehabilitation. This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and flexible individual to join the team. The successful applicant will work as part of the wider inpatient team to cover the medical, surgical and frailty wards as well as working as part of the wider inpatient team. The inpatient team provides physiotherapy to a diverse range of patients over a 7 day service framework and a respiratory on call service overnight.

We are also considering a band 5 to band 6 progressional role depending on applicants experience.

Main duties of the job

The clinical case load includes covering medical, surgical, elderly care and respiratory specialties as required by team leaders to meet demands of the inpatient capacity. The successful applicant will utilise their outstanding organisation and communication skills in order to support with timely discharge from the acute setting whilst achieving physiotherapy outcomes.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for supervising band 3 and 4 physiotherapy assistants and band 5 junior physiotherapists. The successful applicant will support students at an undergraduate level as a clinical educator. The trust has a robust induction training and essential training programme.

The team are very committed to providing a robust in-service training programme which the post holder will be encouraged to take an active part in developing, leading and benefitting from sessions towards maintaining CPD. The post holder will have the opportunity to work with peers and team leaders across the CDDFT sites to develop the physiotherapy service in the inpatient physiotherapy team.

  • Attendance of recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical specialism.
  • An understanding of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, its culture, strategic direction, achievements and NHS standing.
