Whitby Community Hospital in-patient Ward are currently recruiting a Band 6 Nurse to work within our integrated, multi-disciplinary Community Ward in-patient Team. You will have well-developed clinical and leadership skills and work alongside our wider team including Therapists, Pharmacists, Tissue Viability, Continence, Cardiac, diabetes, dietetics, Speech & Language and Respiratory Specialists.

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Nurse on the ward you will work within an integrated multidisciplinary team of Specialist Nurses, Staff Nurses, Therapists, Trainee/Registered Nursing Associates, Associate Practitioners, Health Care Assistants to meet the needs of the complex patient in the ward . This includes:
- Intravenous Antibiotic administration,
- End of life care,
- Managing the deteriorating patient,
- Complex and simple wound care including VAC therapy and compression therapy,
- Venipuncture,
- Utilising advanced physical assessment skills and many more clinical nursing skills.
Main duties of the role include
- Provision of high quality, patient centred clinical care
- Leading a team of Nurses and support staff including provision of supervision - both clinical & managerial
- Working with other Band 6 Nurses to ensure adequate staffing and share resources and learning
- Induction, probation & competency development of new staff recruited to team
- Mentorship of student nurses
- Referral to and working alongside Specialist Clinicians & other agencies
- Engagement with Safety Huddles
- Actively encourage prevention and self-management
- Carry out audits
- Engage in working groups to inform service development.

- Registered Adult Nurse on NMC live register. MinimumTwo years post registration experience
- Post registration/graduate diploma or equivalent experience in related work area, to demonstrate advanced level of practice
- Demonstrable experience of mentoring pre-registration students
- Prepared to undertake or hold a recognised non-medical prescribing qualification
- Prepared to undertake or hold a Specialist Practitioner (District Nursing) qualification
Desirable
- V300 Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
- Specialist Practitioner (District Nursing) qualification
- Evidence of CPD or experiential learning at an advanced level e.g. Postgraduate/Masters level
- Leadership training/qualification/experience

- Previous community based experience or band 6 experience transferrable to community setting
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
