North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust ENT service is recruiting and Enhanced Nurse Practitioner to work within the specialist ENT Services.

You will be joining the ENT service and will be supported by ENT consultants. The successful applicant will be instrumental in the provision of specialist ENT care, working both independently and a part of the multidisciplinary team.

This is a part-time position , 19.5 hours per week on a Monday - Friday working pattern. Although based at Peterborough City Hospital, this role requires working across many NWAFT sites.

Main duties of the job

ENT Enhanced Nurse Practitioner are registered nurses with additional knowledge, skill and experience in caring for patients with a disease or disorder of the ear, nose and throat.

The ENT Enhanced Nurse Practitioner will be an accountable professional who will use their knowledge and expertise to provide evidenced-based, person- centred, safe and compassionate care in a rich multi-disciplinary environment.

Ideally they will be skilled in the use of Otoscope, micro suction, and are able to undertake complex and holistic assessments independently in order to provide nurse -led care to a defined group of patients.

The ENT Enhanced Practitioner would be an expert resource within the organisation and be actively engaged in the neck breathers working group.

The successful candidate would be encouraged to undertake a non-medical prescribing course.

The 10 duties that are required to provide a high standard of health care using judgement, skills and knowledge for enhanced practice within the role of an ENT Enhanced Nurse Practitioner are:
  • Be an accountable professional acting in the best interests of people, putting them first and providing complex clinical care that is evidence-based, person-centred, safe and compassionate.
  • Use existing knowledge and expertise and enhanced levels of clinical judgement to independently undertake complex and holistic assessments.
  • Act independently to plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate complex care using enhanced clinical assessments, diagnostics, and interventions.

  • Person Specification

    Education and Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered Nurse
    • Degree in Nursing or equivalent
    • Qualification/ study in specialist field (or willingness to undertake)
    • Non-Medical Prescriber (or willingness to undertake)
    • Management and/ or leadership qualification
    • Enthusiasm for learning and ongoing professional development


    Desirable

    • Master's Degree in relevant field
    • Post graduate study in teaching, mentorship and/ or coaching


    Experience

    Essential

    • Experience of senior role within acute hospital setting Band 6 or above
    • Recent and relevant clinical experience relating to speciality
    • Detailed experience in facilitation/ teaching/ assessing/ coaching
    • Evidence in both autonomous practice and MDT working
    • Engagement in Audit and Quality Assurance processes
    • Competent and effective in IT skills


    Desirable

    • Experience of staff management
    • Involvement in change management process within a clinical environment
