An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Safeguarding team as a Deputy Head of Safeguarding for Adult and Children's Safeguarding. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven, highly motivated and experienced practitioner and leader that is capable to influence change and positively influence practice.
This role is a new position for the Trust and will involve supporting the Head of Safeguarding to ensure the Trust is delivering on all Safeguarding responsibilities and that all patients are safeguarded whilst they are accessing our services.
Main duties of the job
In collaboration with the Head of Safeguarding and the wider safeguarding team members, the Deputy Head of Safeguarding adults and children will support all activities necessary to ensure that the Trust meets its statutory responsibilities in safeguarding adults and children using its services, and promoting their welfare whilst on Trust premises.
The Deputy Head of Safeguarding Adults & Childrenwill need to be competently skilled at providing overarching leadership, support and clinical safeguarding expertise across both the adult and children's safeguarding portfolios. However, there is a keenness to seek candidates that can particularly demonstrate a strong skill set in Adult Safeguarding, to complement the skill set of the current Head of Safeguarding and wider Trust requirements.

- Extensive clinical experience and practice in Adult and Children's safeguarding with an enhanced skill set in Adult Safeguarding
- Appropriate demonstrable experience working in Lead / Named Nurse role within an acute health organisation.
- Expert knowledge on practical application and embedding MCA, Best interest decision making, DoLs and Prevent.
- Expert knowledge of MARAC and Domestic Abuse management.
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to create team vision.
Desirable
- Experience of supervising staff in a safeguarding capacity.
- Evidence of multi-professional training delivery
Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration appropriate to the job role
- Evidence of additional training in safeguarding or significant experience of working in a senior safeguarding role for a minimum of 3 years.
Interpersonal
Essential
- Provide leadership, advice and safeguarding adults & children consultancy to clinical staff across the Trust.
- Ability to analyse, synthesise and present knowledge and information, including complex issues and concepts to a range of audiences and stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to work to timescales and complete requested tasks.
Desirable
- Experience of supervising staff in a safeguarding capacity.
Organisational Skills

- To be able to write reports and policies and other documentation as required
