An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 specialist nurse to work with and lead the stoma care team. This well-established team is a hospital-based service within the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital .
We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with relevant experience in stoma care along with at least 2 years at a band 6 level.
You will be required to work independently and therefore need to be confident and in your role as well as being able to interact within a wider multidisciplinary team.
Full UK Driving Licence and Car Owner Essential.
Cross site working may be required
Main duties of the job
The Stoma Nursing Service provides safe, excellent and compassionate care to patients and their families during diagnosis, treatment and transition of care. Our objective is to provide a specialist nursing service to patients who are having a stoma formation or have an existing stoma. You will work in collaboration with the Colorectal Nurse Specialist to ensure quality proactive delivery of a specialist service to the colorectal cancer and stoma population
The post holder will be an integral part of the stoma care team and will be required to assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient focused care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
The post offers ideal opportunities for the successful applicant to enhance and expand their experience in stoma care and to make a significant difference to the experience of the patient undergoing such life changing surgery. The pathway involves pre and post operative counselling, support and education to patients and their families/carer's.
