Band 6 Static Occupational Therapist - Emergency Department and Acute Admission Units
Permanent Full time (1.00 WTE)
Due to ongoing expansion within the team, an exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Inpatient Therapy Department at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as part of #TeamWestHerts at Watford Hospital.
The ideal candidate will be an integral part of our Occupational Therapy Emergency Department and Acute Admission Unit Team.The post is static and would be suitable for an experienced Band 5 demonstrating a good range of rotational experience, or current Band 6 who would like to further develop their specialist skills in emergency medicine and acute admissions. The ED and AAU Team work closely with the Frailty team and cross cover between team where needed.
We offer a regular in-service training programme as well as clinical supervision with an experienced band 7 within the team to support with your own professional development. You will need to be a dynamic team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to teach, supervise and appraise Assistants and Students. We are a very friendly and supportive department where staff wellbeing is a priority.
The team is 7 day working and this post would be included in that rota (frequency of 1:6 weekends) with rest days in the following week.

Main duties of the job
The post would also offer the candidate the opportunity to supervise more junior team members, participate within service development projects and contribute to the Team and Department's well-established in-service training programme(s) and opportunities to represent Occupational therapy in MDT forums.
We have a strong MDT focus in the Accident and emergency department and acute admission wards and we are a forward-thinking team as to how best to develop services to benefit the patients care. You will be encouraged to take an active role in quality improvement/audit projects across the department.

In the role you will need to be able to complete comprehensive assessments within the acute hospital environment, implementing treatment plans, as well as focussing on rapid discharge from the acute hospital setting.
You will be working as part of a Team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistant Staff, and supported within an integrated Acute Therapy Service.
You should have a caring, committed and quality focused approach to the provision of patient care.
Team assessments will be holistic and identify a range of patients needs, ensuring appropriate use of available community services.
