Due to the internal promotion of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Medicine Division as the Directorate Manager for Emergency Care & Acute Medicine. As Directorate Manager, you will be part of our senior Management Team where you will play an important role in shaping the future of our Urgent & Emergency Care Services whilst striving to improving performance and patient experience.

The Emergency & Acute Medicine Directorate is one of the largest in the Trust operating over 2 sites, managing the Urgent & Emergency Care Services of both Emergency Departments and Acute Medical Units. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, driven manager to support and lead the emergency teams into the next phase of our improvement work streams.

The post holder, along with Clinical Director & Senior Matrons will work as a triumvirate accountable for organising the resources of the Directorate to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care. We are looking for an inspirational and innovative leader who is keen to explore new ideas and ways of working. The post holder will be pivotal in leading pieces of improvement to deliver and sustain non-elective targets. Previous experience of leading a service and delivering service improvements is essential, along with excellent staff management skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder along with Clinical Directors and Matrons is a key member of the DirectorateManagement Team accountable for optimising the resources of the Directorate in order todeliver safe and effective patient care and for fostering an environment of continuousimprovement.The post holder will be responsible to the Clinical Director and Divisional Head of Operations for formulating and implementing business/service plans to deliver the strategic aims of the Directorate and to work with other Divisions to ensure the achievement of both the Trust's and the Division's Corporate Objectives.
